The Fortis Complete Athlete (CA) program is designed to help hockey players develop athleticism by focusing on what matters – skill development, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of improvement. Our goal is to see every athlete in our CA program improve athletically but also as teammates and leaders. The Fortis CA program is an alternative to AAA that puts training science first – taking time off after the season to mentally and physically recover, concentrating on windows of trainability for youth athletes, and emphasizing the need for multi-sport athletes to develop the widest and most adaptable athletic base.
Who can join this group? Athletes that will be playing Bantam hockey during the 2023-2024 hockey season. This group is open to skaters that the Fortis Coaching Staff believes fit our culture and the group’s skill level. If Fortis staff haven’t discussed joining this group or sent you the link directly, please fill out our application HERE.
Nutrition: we include sports nutrition consulting in our program. All athletes will receive handouts on proper recovery and basic nutrition principles. Complete Athlete members will have access to our registered sports dietician for individual consults!
Leadership Training: all athletes will be given the opportunity to earn a Fortis Level 1 Leadership certificate. To do this, they will be required to volunteer coach with a local sports association.
Advanced Testing: all athletes will be tested on their 20 and 40 yard dashes with lasers accurate to 1/1000 of a second. In addition, we will test vertical jump, grip strength, pull ups, and other strength measures. HS athletes will do on-ice speed testing.
Movement Screens: performed by our partners at Viverant Physical Therapy, these screens help identify injury risks, helping us prevent injuries before they happen.
Academic Focus: academic achievement must come before athletic advancement. We have certified teachers on staff who can help with tutoring and academic mentorship.
