Great coaching involves much more than writing workouts. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of athlete development, pays attention to detail, brings energy to the training environment, and continually seeks to grow as a professional.
You love coaching. You enjoy being on the floor, teaching athletes, correcting movement, encouraging effort, and helping people improve.
You connect with athletes. You can relate to a 10-year-old athlete while also earning the respect of a collegiate or professional athlete.
You understand training. You have a strong foundation in strength training, speed development, movement quality, athletic performance, and injury-risk reduction.
You pay attention to detail. You notice technique, effort, body language, and the small things that influence an athlete’s development.
You bring energy. You understand that the coach helps establish the environment and culture of every training session.
You are coachable. You welcome feedback and continually look for ways to become a better coach.
You take ownership. You are proactive and don’t wait to be told about every task that needs to be completed.
You work well on a team. You value collaboration and recognize that developing athletes is a shared responsibility.
You value character. You recognize the influence coaches have on young people and take that responsibility seriously.
Fortis coaches do more than supervise workouts. They remain actively engaged throughout every session by teaching, correcting, encouraging, challenging, and building relationships.
Our coaches understand the why behind the training and can communicate it in a way athletes understand. They recognize that every interaction with a young athlete is an opportunity to positively influence that athlete’s development.
At Fortis, performance matters—but the person matters more.
We believe great sports performance coaching develops qualities that extend beyond athletics: discipline, confidence, resilience, leadership, responsibility, humility, and the willingness to pursue excellence.
Our goal is to create an environment where athletes are challenged to become stronger competitors while also becoming stronger people.
