The Varsity and Junior hockey prep training group is designed for high end high school varsity hockey players that are preparing for a junior hockey career in the near future (1-2 years). Participants in this training group are selected by The Fortis Academy staff. Training begins in mid-March and runs through April. We take June/July off and resume training in August.

What does the training program entail?
Our goal is not only to help athletes reach their highest potential in sport but to also help them become the best versions of themselves. We want to see them grow academically, athletically, and mentally. To do this, this program includes a wide range of programming:
- Leadership development program: athletes may participate in this year’s leadership development program. Doing so will require them to volunteer with a local sports organization for six hours and teach a leadership curriculum during those hours.
- Testing: we will do comprehensive testing for all of our athletes to include vertical jump, skater lunge jump, broad jump, 20 yard dash, 40 yard dash, and on-ice speed testing.
- Viverant Physical Therapy performance and injury risk assessment. We will use cutting edge research to analyze strength measurements and movement patterns to address injury risks and suboptimal performance areas.
